Please welcome Tobi to the SPCA of East TX! Tobi is a 57 lbs, 6 years old Rottweiler mix. Tobi was removed from his owner’s property back in August by Smith County Animal Control. He was left out without food, water, shelter, or medical care. Smith County Officers took Tobi to the vet for evaluation; this is likely the first time he had ever seen a veterinarian. Besides the flea infestation and anemia, he was bitten repeatedly by mosquitoes over his entire life and was suffering from severe heartworm disease. Due to the recent dog fighting case, Smith County Animal Control was forced to make room for the 60+ dogs coming in and Tobi was at risk for his life again. Hearing the public outcry for rescue, the SPCA of East Tx headed to the shelter and scooped him up. He has since been evaluated and started heartworm treatment as well as training with our own behaviorist Alison Tuttle! He will need a bit of time to recover medically, but look out as you won’t want to miss this sweet teddy bear! Medical cost will be extensive due to his age and condition. Tobi will need bloodwork panel, chest x-rays, spay/neuter surgeries, full vaccinations, and heartworm treatment.
